UHF DStar Repeater
June 11th, 2013I am currently building a Kenwood TKR-820 repeater for Amateur use and will most likely be putting it on DStar. I havent worked out all the details yet, but for the computer control I will be using a Raspberry Pi Linux machine. Stay tuned for a detail build up with links and pictures!
6-12-2013 Club call sign application has been filed. The Club's name is Oxford Repeater Club. It will be registered on DStar as soon as it comes in. The MoenComm DStar node board is being preloaded with the correct firmware and should be shipped by the end of the week. The repeater is currently operating. 447.175 negative shift with PL of 91.5. Its on my Satellite beam right now and the new Comet CA-712EF antenna should be here soon. More info as it develops.
Flex 5000 and External Audio Gear
February 15th, 2012I wrote a very short article on setting up a Flex 5000 using external Audio rack gear. Alot of people have experienced tearing on the audio with this type of configuration and I stumbled on a setting that takes care of this issue.
Download the attached PDF file and it will explain it all in some detail.
I also did some on air testing and recording with W1AEX, here is a link to the Youtube recordings. I recommend setting the video to 720p and full screen, its just like sitting at a Flex Radio !
Enjoy, Craig

Antenna Work Completed
December 9th, 2011Well I picked up a Mosley Mini 33A Beam to add to my antenna array. I added the separartion kit to the G-5400A Rotor and put the satellite array at the very top and the beam 5' below that on a 10' Schedule 40 Galvanized Mast. It was a lot of work but well worth it.
NearFest Deerfield New Hampshire
October 16th, 2011Well attended the Fall Nearfest and the weather didnt cooperate on Friday. It rained on and off all day which kept the attendance down a bit, but I still had a great time meeting up with friends and roaming around.
I did find a beautiful Commander HF-2500 amp that I just couldnt resist so it is now perched in my shack. What a Great amplifier, 35 watts gets me full legal limit on most bands and its a real joy to tune up.
